Electrical Lead Engineer (Data Center)

Role/ Job Description:

1.     Leading the entire Electrical Engineering activities to carry out Electrical design work based on standard company procedure / other procedures, methods outlined.

2.     Should have fair understanding on Telecommunications Industry Association TIA-942-B Standard for Data Centers.

3.     Should be able to prepare Basis of Design for Data Center, Master Plan, Concept, Schematics.

4.     Detail Engineering including preparation of Load list and load balancing in case of power failure at one source to maintain redundancy.

5.     Preparation of SLD, Power distribution, Equipment Layout as per NBC/CEIG/Electricity Rule, Cable tray / Earthing layout.

6.     Preparation of design calculations for sizing the major electrical equipment. Familiar with ETAP calculations – for Load flow, Short-circuit, Harmonic study, Arc flash study.

7.     Should be able to do Lightning protection calculation.

8.     Guiding a team of designers in 2D / 3D electrical engineering, review of 3D model and review of layouts and MTOs extracted from the model.

9.     Should be able to do cost estimation of Electrical Package.

10.  Procurement activity for Electrical items covering preparation of enquiry specification, review of technical offer and preparation of TR, preparation of order specifications.

11.  Review of vendor drawings, review of electrical content for mechanical packages.

12.  Participate in discussions with the client, as necessary.

13.  Timely completion of designs, requisitions and engineering deliverables.

14.  Technical guidance to Electrical Engineers and Designers to carry out design work as per the requirements of the Project.

15.  Adherence to Dept./Discipline Working Instructions and Quality Systems.

16.  Overview of work progress and work-hour usage.

17.  Working within company manhours and budgets.

18.  Meet client expectations and maintain long-term relationship with client.  Attend to client’s feedback and any complaints

19.  Monitor work and progress in compliance with the project requirements and schedule.

20.  Coordination with other disciplines/groups to ensure:

a)    Project Manager and/or Engineer are aware of problems of progress delays.

b)    Proper exchange of information.

c)     Proper exchange of documents.

d)    Interface is correctly defined.

21.  Ensure that site issues viz. Technical Queries, Non-conformity Notices are dealt effectively and expeditiously; and also ensure competent staff are available for site trouble shooting as necessary.

22.  Attend Design Engineering Management Review Meetings.

23.  Visiting sites for residual engineering / resolving site queries.

24.  Coordination with various stake holders like Client / various internal disciplines like projects / Piping / mechanical / architect / civil / vendors for effective engineering management.

25.  Training of engineers.

26.  Inspection of electrical equipment.

Skills:

Knowledge of Electrical codes and standards is mandatory.

Knowledge of IS/ IEC standards.

Knowledge of 3D engineering, proficiency in review of 3D models using Navisworks is mandatory & EHV Design is an added advantage.

Educational Qualification:

B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical

Years of Experience:

10 to 12 Years; out of which at least 5 years as Lead Electrical Engineer in Data Center projects. Should have led electrical team in at least one job with at least 100 MVA power requirement.

Should have experience in multi office execution for Global projects.
